Set your yields and prices

Open the Crop yield chart
2 minutes

Tell Heirloom what a bed of each crop gives you and what you sell it for. Every new planting takes these numbers, and your revenue forecast becomes your own.

Open Crop yield

In the sidebar, click Charts, then Crop yield. The Field Harvest tab lists each crop and cultivar with its Unit, Price per unit, yield per bed and revenue per bed. The revenue is calculated for you: yield times price.

Revenue per bed is calculated from your yield and your price

Enter your yield and price

Click a row, choose the unit you sell in (bunch, pound, kilogram, head…), type the price you get and what one bed gives you, then click the green check. Use the numbers of your own records when you have them: they are worth more than any average.

Set the bed your yields refer to

Yields are counted per bed of your standard length. If you think in another length, click Settings and change the Bed reference length. Heirloom converts the yields for you; it changes this chart’s display only, not your beds.

Add a second way to sell a crop

You sell carrots in bunches at the market and by the pound to restaurants? Click Add new chart item, pick the crop, the cultivar and the unit, then enter its yield and price. From a row’s three dots, Create new item from copy starts from an existing row.

Price your transplants

If you sell seedlings, the Nursery Harvest tab holds a yield and a revenue per tray or pot.

Update this season’s plantings

New plantings take your yields and prices. To send them to plantings already planned, use Apply to existing plantings from the row’s three dots: every planting of that crop or cultivar takes this row’s unit, yield and price. See Update the plantings already in your plan.
