Getting Started

How do I plan a market garden in the tropics?

Tell Heirloom about your climate in two answers, and your plan stops thinking in frosts and winters: at setup, check There is no frost in my area, and run your season from January to December.

Then turn on Use climate-adjusted DTM in your plantings. Heirloom adjusts each planting’s days to maturity to your farm’s climate at that time of year. When a crop cannot mature in your climate, the switch stays greyed out and tells you why.

On a crop’s curve, the Optimal Growing Period band shows the weeks when a planting reaches maturity without too much heat or cold on the way: the weeks to aim your sowings at.

See Set up your farm and Read a crop’s DTM curve.
