What seeder settings should I use on a Jang or Earthway seeder?

Start from settings that already worked, and save yourself the calibration trials. Heirloom’s Seeders chart, under Charts, holds the values we have had success with on the well-known seeders, such as the Jang and the Earthway.

Each seeder has its own tab. Crop by crop, you find its settings, such as the Roller, the Brush, the gears and the Depth, with the seeding density to aim for.

Treat them as a starting point: soil, bed preparation, seed size and seed lot all change the result. Run a setting on a short stretch of bed before you seed a whole planting, and note what works on your farm.
