Add tunnels to your field blocks

Open the Farm Map
2 minutes

Create your caterpillar, mini and high tunnels once, then put each one over the beds it covers this season. When you place a planting that needs cover, the Crop Map shows you the right tunnel.

Create the tunnel

Click Add to map, then Tunnel. Choose its Type: Caterpillar Tunnel, Mini Tunnel or High Tunnel, and give it a name your team will recognise, such as Caterpillar 1. You create each tunnel once; it stays yours from season to season.

Heirloom then offers to assign it to a block right away, or later by editing the block.

Put it over its beds

Edit the field block, open the Tunnels tab and pick the Tunnel. Choose the Starting bed and the End bed it covers. The drawing on the right frames those beds.

Leave room around it if you need to

Turn on Disable neighbouring beds to take the bed on each side of the tunnel out of production, for the path, the shade or the snow load. Those beds show as disabled on the Crop Map.

A block can hold more than one tunnel: click Assign another tunnel. Two tunnels cannot overlap, and a tunnel sits on one block per season.

Move it next season

Where a tunnel sits is saved season by season. Change it in 2027 and it stays where it was in 2026: your past seasons keep their history. Growing locations lists each tunnel with its block and beds.

Know what it changes on the Crop Map

When a planting is planned under a tunnel, the list of plantings to place shows the tunnel type next to it, and while you drag it, the Crop Map outlines the tunnels of that type.
