How the Crop Library works

Open the Crop Library
1 minute

The Crop Library holds every crop, cultivar and seed company you can plan with: Heirloom’s own, and the ones your farm adds. It is where your season starts.

Open the library

In the sidebar, under My Season, click Crop Library. It opens on your crops, one card per crop, with its picture and botanical family.

Crop Library open on the Crops tab, a grid of crop cards with their family, some bookmarked as favorites

Know the three tabs

Crops: the vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers you grow. Cultivars: the named varieties you actually sow, with the days to maturity from the seed packet, the seed weight and the seed companies that sell them. Companies: the seed companies whose varieties you want to see.

Switch between Grid and Table at the top right. The table lines things up to compare, for example the days to maturity of every carrot.

Open a crop

Click a card to open the crop. Information shows its name, short name, family, color and nutrient demands. Cultivars lists its varieties, Plantings what you have planned of it, season by season, and Notes what your team wrote about it.

Under Quick actions, Create planting opens the Game Plan in a new tab, with the planting form already set on this crop. Create cultivar adds a variety of your own.

Tell Heirloom’s from yours

Heirloom provides the crops, cultivars and seed companies of its library, with their data. What your farm creates carries a small round stamp after its name, Created by your farm. You can adjust Heirloom’s crops and cultivars for your farm; the changes stay on your farm.

Next: pick the crops and cultivars of your season.
