How the Seeds Inventory works

Open the Seeds Inventory
2 minutes

The Seeds Inventory keeps every seed packet on your shelf in one place: how much you have, from which seed company, and when it stops being worth sowing. It also tells you what your Game Plan will need this season.

Find the four tabs

Open Seeds Inventory in the menu, under your farm. Inventory is your shelf, Season needs compares it with your Game Plan, Movements is the history of every seed in and out, and Imports keeps the invoices and entries you recorded.

Read your shelf by variety

On Inventory, the Cultivars view adds up every lot of a variety: On hand is the seed you have left, Lots how many packets it comes from, and Next lot expiry date the first one to use up. Switch to Seed lots to see each packet with its seed company, lot number and traits, or to Purchased transplants for plants you buy in.

Your stock has no season: the seed left in December is still on hand in March, and every season’s needs draw from the same shelf.

Open a variety

Click a variety to see all its lots in one list, with Add a lot and Adjust stock at the top. The Movements tab shows everything that came in and went out for that variety.

Open a lot

Click a lot to see its seed company, lot number, purchase date, viability and traits. Heirloom works out the expiry date from the purchase date and the viability in months, and flags a lot Expiring two months before. Keep your germination test results in Notes: they stay with the lot.

Set up what the inventory needs

Every lot belongs to a seed company, so keep yours in the Crop Library, where you can also mark an organic certificate on file. To count in grams or ounces, a variety needs a seed weight, set in its cultivar in the Crop Library; otherwise it counts in seeds. Then add your first lots and check what your season needs.
