Why can’t I link my note to a planting from last season?

Select plantings lists the plantings of the season you are viewing. Switch to last season with the season picker in the top bar, and its plantings are there to link.

For an observation that should outlive one season, link the crop too, with Crops: the note then shows on every planting of that crop, this year and the next.
